  The Motorola V80 is a great idea, badly executed. It has an original design and a great specification, but unfortunately is dogged by a range of problems, and is one of the most unreliable phones currently on the market. When closed, the phone cover hides the keypad to reveal an exceptionally large colour screen and lights that pulse to the rhythm of MP3 ringtones! Push the cover gently to the side and the power-assisted rotating mechanism smoothly opens the phone to reveal the keypad inside. It's a cool design that, like the slide-up phones made by Siemens and Samsung enable a large screen to fit within a compact phone design.

  The screen on the V80 is very good. It's a bright TFT display with 65,000 colours and is very large at 176 x 200 pixels, making full use of the opportunity that the rotating design offers. The integrated camera is also high quality, and there are plenty of tools and options to play with. Light condition settings consist of: Auto, Sunny, Cloudy, Indoor and Night. There's an auto timer and a choice of landscape or portrait mode. The digital zoom goes up to 4x, but image quality degrades when zoomed this much. There's no video camera, but video playback (with sound) is possible.
